The initial challenge here was to research Alvin Lustig. Learning about his career and seeing his artwork enabled me to begin designing his book. I was very much inspired by Lustig’s early work with type ornaments. I chose to create my own compositions for each page, to show the connections that I made to his work on a personal level. Since his designs changed so drastically over the years, the best way to show his covers was through a timeline. But his achievements reached far beyond just book covers, so it was important to exhibit his other works in different fields. The book as a whole represents my appreciation of his work, and my fascination with his approach to design.
